Many years ago, while I was an art student at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art & Design, one of my tutors kindly informed me that I'd never make it as a cartoonist.
Fortunately, nobody thought to tell the publishers, advertising agencies and clients.
Since then, I've illustrated at least ten children's books, drawn cartoons for advertising and taken on all sorts of commissioned work.
I still have plenty to learn, but I'm very grateful that I kept drawing instead of listening.
